Learn Electronics with Arduino

The book Eric Hagan and I have been working on for a while was published by Make. The book is in some brick and mortar stores, here is a link on Maker Shed.

Our book is for beginners, we wrote it for people with no background in electronics or in programming. It has lots of images. A shout out to our editor and publisher, Roger Stewart, and the production team from Happenstance Type-O-Rama, Liz Welch and Maureen Forys.

A few illustrations from the book and the cover. A lot of the content is also on arduinotogo.com, our site

Breadboard Comic

I’ve been working on a comic that explains how to use a breadboard and create a number of different projects with Maker Media for a while. Here are the first 2 pages– they explain the basics of setting up a board. Gareth Branwyn initiated the project as a workshop at World Maker Faire in 2012, Sean Ragan edited and wrote the text for the circuit examples.

Here are links to some of the translations, there’s more on the Arduino site. Thanks everyone!

CES and Las Vegas

View from the Luxor

I went to the Consumer Electronics Show with Calvin in Las Vegas, he was covering the show for PW, and I took pictures. Tablets, tablets, tablets, 3D TVs and lots of cars with embedded systems were everywhere- I’m sure there was more, but that was the overwhelming impression, I seem to have forgotten every thing else I saw at the show. I had never been to Las Vegas- I especially enjoyed staying in a Pyramid with a view each morning of the sun rising over a Sphinx.
